Our ocean stocks are in deep trouble. Three-quarters of global fish stocks are over-exploited or depleted. Aquaculture is the cultivation of aquatic organisms, and fish farming is the principal form of aquaculture. Aquaculture offers an alternative sustainable solution to the increasing market demand for fish.
At Tropical, we’re focused on Tilapia production as it’s one of only a very few fish that can be developed sustainably without damaging our precious marine resources. Tropical is incomparably committed to sustainable farming practices guaranteeing the highest quality Tilapia and ensuring continuity of supply.
Environmental Protection & Conservation
- Eco-Friendly Water – Only Tropical uses a mixture of pure mountain rainwater and fresh tidal water which creates a perfect salinity causing our tilapia to have the sweetest taste and firmest texture.
- Tropical’s Tilapia is farm-raised in low density ponds (1.2 fish per square meter) that contain NO pesticides or contaminants with minimal environmental impact.
- Tropical guarantees our Tilapia is raised and processed without any additives, preservatives, antibiotics, chemicals, growth hormones, or carbon monoxide.
- Tropical is ISO, SQF and HACCP Certified.
Sustainable Feeds
We produce our own nutritionally balanced food that contains fishmeal, wheat, and soybeans from the US and rice from Ecuador. We also manufacture our own fish meal from shrimp and wild fish harvest byproducts.
In terms of sustainability, you can't beat tilapia. Tilapia is by far the most sustainable commercially available fish.
